If you have been keeping up with my blog and with this contest you should know one thing...I tell like it is. Good, bad or indifferent. A couple weeks into this contest it looked like it had fail written all over it. I was ready to throw in the white flag. This definitely wasn't due to the quality of the entries, but more due to the fact that we just weren't getting as many entries as I though we would. When I thought up the contest my initial goal was to get 10 entries. We got 9. Why did I feel like this was a fail? I don't know...but looking back through it I got out of it just about what I was expecting so I'm happy about that. The last minute rush of entries definitely turned this around pretty quickly for us. Expect the splash site up to vote for your favorite entry SOON.

Secret Society Volume 2 entries officially begin today so make sure to submit to our group e-mail address (SecretSocietyNT@gmail.com) . Deadline for entries is August 20th so get going! A few rules to remember : 3 songs max for artists and 5 beats max for producers.

Honestly, I don't know anything about Basik and there was no bio with the e-mail, so I don't really have much to type about but I can definitely applaud the effort and hope for more work to show up in the inbox for the Secret Society Vol. 2 tape.

If you frequent The Real Just then you know we are huge supporters of J-Diction. Not only was J on the first Secret Society tape, but she has put out The Prelude Family "Real Music. Real People. Real Talk." mixtape with Dub Zero and Tic Tock and has her first solo mixtape "Cloudy Rooms" around the corner. If you need to catch up to speed then you can follow J-Diction on Twitter and catch her previous work here. Regardless of who wins this contest I'd bet to see some J-Diction on that next Secret Society Vol. 2 tape after the standout track she had on the first tape with H-Jynx. For the record, I literally think the "Intro" off the first Secret Society tape has the most plays of all of my tracks on iTunes. :eek

When it rains, it pours. I had all but given up on the "Use Your Imagination" contest and then we get three entries the day before the contest ends. I guess when you give people a deadline, that's what date they mark on their calendar. Hell, I know when I have deadlines I'm last minute too so I can't knock it. 

Gibsz Bizze has a upcoming mixtape entitled "Strictly Bizzness" on the horizon so look out for some tracks from the project here soon.

The homie Louchiano delivered this gem to my e-mail inbox yesterday for the third entry in the "Use Your Imagination" contest. Louchi has been on his grind after his successful mixtape "Loublood" and has a whole lot of other stuff up his sleeve for the future of his brand. I'm telling you Louchiano has a vision for himself, his music, his brand and the people surrounding him and he is just about the most creative person I've ever known (well through the internet...LOL) when thinking outside of the box to deliver that to the masses. The homie A-Live from Green Street jumps on the second entry we have so far for the Secret Society "Use Your Imagination Contest". I was definitely incredibly humbled (and excited!) for my first shout out ever on a song. It's been a long time coming for your boy, but I appreciate the love! If you aren't familiar with A-Live or Green Street get yourself up to speed here or on previous posts on The Real Just.

Also, not sure if you saw the homie Amp's blog, but A-Live got a real dope shout out from Wiz Khalifa for Random Acts of Flyness. Secret Society has been getting some love from the Khalifa man between Half's Interview and this. Always a good look!

Russ had to make a few changes with the placement of his verse, so that delayed it a day...but still he beat everyone else out the gate. Well, first and foremost...THANK YOU for checking back to view my 2000th post. If you remember back to my 1000th post, I tried to do something a little out of box and not just the standard post for the big milestones in my blogging career. LOL. Sorry for not delivering through with this announcement yesterday, but we had some technical difficulties and wanted to make sure we had everything dialed in before coming out and announcing this contest.

I'm sure you all remember the epic "Imagination" track off of the first Secret Society tape courtesy of Hi-Jynx, Mr. Jefferson and Keen-¥ . Well, it was pretty obvious that there was an open verse needed at the end of that track. Want to be on the next Secret Society tape? Well, go in on that open spot on the end of the track and send it through to our Secret Society e-mail! I figured I'd up the individual "Imagination" track for download also, but if you don't already have this chilling in your iTunes from downloading the Secret Society tape then OFF yourself.

The rules are spelled out clearly on the artwork, but just wanted to add a few more important things. ALL entries will be posted on all of the Secret Society's blogs (The Real Just, Random Acts of Flyness, Crack of Dawn, Give The Drumma Some and Joe Galvan) so use this as a chance to get your work out to the masses. Also, Joe Galvan will be setting up a site like we did for the Secret Society tape that will allow listeners to stream the entries that have been submitted and vote on their favorite. Voting will start after the June 15th deadline so that everyone has a fair chance of having their entry make the second tape.

This will all be promotion towards the Secret Society : Vol. 2 which we are targeting for Labor Day.
