Nate Robinson wins Slam Dunk Contest

Nate Robinson is only 5 ft. 8, but he was still able to jump over the 7 foot tall Dwight Howard to win the Slam Dunk Contest. My question is...why would Howard help assist Robinson win the title when he was in the competition and defending his title? I guess it's not all that serious to him...
